Progressive Payoffs

Progressive Payoffs

Progressive Payoffs are jackpots for various casino games where the value of the jackpot increases whenever a game is played.

Slot Machines and Video Poker Machines usually have progressive payoffs. These machines are linked together to form one large progressive payoff that grows more quickly because multiple players are contributing to the payoff at the same time.

The casino sets how much is added to the jackpot after each game. For example, on a machine whose house edge is 5%, a generous jackpot contribution might be 1%.

The total value of the progressive payoff is usually displayed on a large and fancy payoff meter near the machine.

Typically, the payoff can only be won by winning the combination with the highest payoff. For example, a royal flush on a video poker game, or five of the most valuable symbols on a slot machine game (e.g. lemons, cherries, alligators, etc).

Once a player wins the progressive payoff, the meter resets to a predetermined minimum amount.
